Privacy Policy
Effective date: July 15, 2026
The Memaday Promise: Your memories are yours. We don't sell your data, we don't show you ads, and we don't share your personal information with third parties for their marketing purposes. Memaday exists to help your family preserve its story — nothing more.
1. Information We Collect
Account information: When you create an account, we collect your name, email address, and authentication identifiers. If you sign in with Google or Apple, we receive account information from that provider, such as your name, email address, and provider identifier, depending on what you choose to share. Password credentials are handled by Firebase Authentication.
Journal content: We store the journal entries, photos, and videos you create in Memaday. This content belongs to you.
Automatic data: We collect basic device and usage information through Firebase Analytics, including device type, operating system, app interactions, and crash reports. This helps us improve the service.
Payment information: If you subscribe to a paid plan, payment is processed by Stripe on the web or by Apple through the App Store. We do not store your full credit card number. We may store subscription identifiers and limited billing status needed to provide the service.
2. How We Use Your Information
We use your information to:
- Provide and operate the Memaday service
- Store and sync your journal entries, photos, and videos
- Authenticate your identity and secure your account
- Process payments for paid features
- Send important service communications (e.g., security alerts, account changes)
- Improve and maintain the service through aggregated, anonymized analytics
3. Information Sharing
We do not sell, rent, or share your personal information with third parties for their marketing purposes. We may share limited data in these circumstances:
- Service providers: We use Firebase (Google Cloud) for hosting, authentication, and data storage, Stripe for web payment processing, and Apple for Sign in with Apple and App Store purchases. These providers access the data necessary to perform their services.
- Legal obligations: We may disclose information if required by law, subpoena, or legal process.
- Safety: We may share information to protect the rights, safety, or property of Memaday, our users, or the public.
4. Data Storage and Security
Your data is stored on Firebase (Google Cloud) infrastructure. All data is encrypted in transit using TLS. We take the following additional measures to protect your privacy:
- EXIF metadata (including GPS location) is automatically stripped from photos you upload
- Access to your household's data is restricted to authenticated members of your household
- Firestore security rules enforce data isolation between households
5. Children's Information
Memaday is designed for parents and adults aged 18 and older. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13. Content about children (journal entries, photos, videos) is created and controlled entirely by the parent or guardian who owns the account.
6. Cookies and Similar Technologies
Memaday uses cookies and local storage for:
- Session management and authentication
- Firebase Analytics (anonymized usage data)
- Offline data storage (IndexedDB) so the app works without an internet connection
We do not use advertising cookies or third-party tracking.
7. Your Rights
You have the right to:
- Access your personal data at any time through the app
- Correct your account information through account settings
- Delete your account in the app by opening Settings and choosing Delete account
- Export your journal entries and media
Only a signed-in household owner can start account deletion. Memaday shows the deletion scope, requires fresh sign-in verification, an acknowledgement, and typed confirmation before proceeding. If another owner remains, Memaday removes the requesting owner's account, profile, reminder settings, and identifying attribution while retaining the shared household journal for the remaining owner or owners. If the requester is the last owner, Memaday deletes the household journal, media, invitations, share links, and viewer access. Viewers cannot delete a household.
If deletion repeatedly pauses or you cannot access the in-app flow, contact support@memaday.com. Do not email passwords, Apple authorization codes, or other sign-in credentials. For other privacy requests, contact privacy@memaday.com.
8. Data Retention
We retain account and journal data while the relevant account or shared household is active. When account deletion completes, the applicable data described above is removed from Memaday's primary systems and is no longer available through normal product paths. Shared household content remains when another owner continues to own that household.
Completed deletion-job and minimized audit records, provider webhook deduplication records, and service or security logs may be retained for up to 30 days. Provider backups may take up to 30 days to age out and remain inaccessible through normal product paths during that period. A narrowly scoped legal hold may require longer retention where required by law.
Stripe, Apple, and other service providers may retain payment, tax, dispute, transaction, or security records under their own legal obligations and retention policies. Memaday deletes its account and billing-link records within the deletion scope, but cannot promise deletion of provider-controlled records.
9. Sign in with Apple and App Store Subscriptions
For an Apple-linked account, Memaday attempts to revoke Sign in with Apple access when a fresh, revocable Apple authorization code is available. If an Apple attempt does not return that code, deletion does not start and the app asks you to try Sign in with Apple again. If deletion completes without automatic Apple revocation, Memaday tells you to remove Memaday manually in Apple Account settings under Sign-In & Security, Sign in with Apple.
Deleting a Memaday account does not cancel an App Store subscription. You must manage or cancel that subscription separately in Apple subscription settings. An active App Store subscription does not prevent immediate Memaday account deletion.
10. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will notify you by email or through an in-app notification. Your continued use of Memaday after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
